Camera-monitored sustainability
Ex camera protection in THM's pioneering wastewater energy recovery system
Project planning
THM's wastewater heat utilization system could supply almost 200 households with cold in the summer and heating in the winter, because due to the relatively high temperatures of 8-20 °C all year round, the wastewater is an ideal heat source for the sustainable and efficient operation of heat pumps. In this case, the wastewater flows from the public sewer into a shaft screening system. From there, the liquid medium is pumped into a heat exchanger in the building, while the solids are pumped directly back into the canal. A heat pump, or in summer a refrigeration machine, is operated via a heat exchanger.
“You always meet twice in your life”, this statement applies to both institutions. THM and SAMCON connect the monitoring of critical infrastructure, sustainability, energy recovery and environmental protection in areas at risk of gas explosions.
The THM trained some of the engineers who now work in development at SAMCON, for example, and from now on the THM uses a robust, waterproof, media-resistant camera from the ExCam series from SAMCON to monitor the stationary wastewater heat recovery system. The ultra-compact camera offers the possibility of detecting solid objects (in the form of flotsam) via motion detection in front of the shaft screening system.
Testimonial
“We are proud that the expertise we have developed at THM has now enabled us to support the TH Mittelhessen with the wastewater heat recovery plant project.”
